Tribes hold more than 56 million acres of land in trust. Much of it comes with a complex set of legal and tribal expectations making it tricky to leverage the land’s intrinsic value. Elders and other tribal leaders are working to create paths for current and future land stewards to tap into the value of land while also preserving traditional practices.
