Native recording artist Fawn Wood (Cree/Salish) is known for her inspirational harmonies. For years she’s shared her voice on the powwow trail and in the places closest to her cultures and traditions. Fawn comes from a strong singing family and has extended an invitation to other powerful voices to join her on her latest album “Kikāwiynaw,” which translates to “our mother.” It’s a mix of round dance, hand game and traditional rhythms. Some of the extra voices on this 13-song collection include Randy, Raven and Cindy Jim Wood. In this hour, we hear more about this project and why Fawn continues to bring attention to the strength of Indigenous women across our Native Nations.
