Every first Tuesday of the month, we host a Current Events show. During the hour we will highlight events around Native America during the month of February including community fairs, powwows, fundraisers, conferences to museum exhibits. This month the exhibit Indigenous Beauty: Masterworks of American Indian Art from the Diker Collection opens at the Seattle Art Museum and the Institute of Museum and Library Services is offering grants for tribal libraries. The Bay-Area American Indian Two-Spirit 4th annual Two Spirit Powwow will be held in San Francisco. Do you have an event you would like to share? Four-time Native American Music Award winning Cherokee musician Michael Bucher and Blue Hills Records are pleased to announce that Bucher’s latest musical track “I’m Not a Mascot, I’m Not a Stereotype, I’ve Been Watching” is now available to the public for free use in any media or video projects in an attempt to generate awareness about the misuse of Native based mascots and stereotypical images by sports teams, schools and universities.
