There is a long history of prejudice against Native Americans in border towns, on city streets, in the workplace, and in official policy. At times that prejudice culminates in violence or other criminal acts.
Documenting hate crimes is problematic. There are no reliable data on their nature or prevalence.
Native America Calling is joining ProPublica’s Documenting Hate project, working to collect, analyze and report on crimes motivated by hate and bias. The project is building a database of tips for use by journalists, researchers and civil-rights organizations.
You can help. If you’re a victim or a witness to a hate crime, fill out the form below. The information will be shared with partners in the Documenting Hate project, but no one else will see the information you share without your permission.
