John Betsch says
I am your uncle you never met, drummer John Betsch on the recordings of Jim with Mal Waldron which I put together and others under Jim’s name. He called us “brothers from different mothers” because we both has sisters as siblings and I knew Floy. Just tonight I was talking about Jim as I always must whenever I speak deeply about music because our band with Mal Waldron and Ed Schuller made people cry. I tried to see Jim’s Selmer at the Smithsonian where my sister Dr. Johnnetta Cole just retirfrom heading the Museum of African Art but they had stored it somewhere else. Please let’s get in contact and keep the family connection alive. With big love, JB as Jim called me
