When an Indigenous tribe on an island off the coast of India killed a missionary, it reignited a conversation about the appropriate practice of Christians working to expand their faith. Columbus’ arrival opened the door to European Christian missionaries in North America. Now many Native tribes and individuals adhere to a variety of Christian denominations. We’ll learn about the history of missionaries, and talk with Native people of faith about their own journeys to spread their message.

I was very disappointed by this podcast. The show seemed slanted in the missionary direction. There was very little traditional voice, just traditional through the eyes of missionaries or ex missionaries. So much damage has been done to Native Peoples by this idea of Jesus and their Bible book. I never heard about hell until I was 10 and it didn’t make sense then and still doesn’t. Why use fear to blackmail people into believing in your way. And all those people in heaven, knowing their relatives are suffering in this hell place…that doesn’t sound like any heaven I want to be in. I’d venture to say that the Bible and Bible people are the worst thing that ever happened to indigenous peoples and the Earth. The bible people have no respect for the Earth and Creation, just some idea of dominion over it. This is directly opposite of traditional ways. It is heartbreaking that so many Native people are brainwashed by this fairy tale and so few that call themselves Christian actually follow Jesus’s example.

Wrong. Acts 4 the tribes of Israel pray for our mother earth at the beginning of prayer. Also it makes sense to some Natives that are being open minded and searching Creator and Creator sets free so you are not wrong and you are not right. My friend was on this podcast. If you want your voice heard since you seem to know a lot of what respect is get on the show.
