We’ll discuss the show’s triumphs and failures and also hear about some other promising projects that Native screenwriters and actors are bringing to the small screen.

My wife and I loved the series “Longmire”. We would be very interested in further issues and discussions. We would also enjoy watching more pieces produced by native screen writers with native actors.
Terri Keller says
“Longmire” is one of the best written and riveting shows to come along. Hoping for more of the same…loved every single episode.

There was absolutely nothing wrong with Longmire aside from cancelling it too soon. There was a lot more story to tell There are thousands who feel the same way!! Thank God for DVD’s so I can continue to watch this outstanding “Work of Art!!” Because that’s what it is. I watch a lot of TV. I’ve never seen anything like it. The actors were made for their parts. They just meshed. They brought it to life. They’re all outstanding! And thank you to Craig Johnson for bringing Walt Longmire to life! Outstanding author!!
Walt says
Craig Johnson’s original novels in the “Longmire” series are far better depictions of Native Americans and Native Culture and include some of the mysticism inherent in their total respect for the Earth. The TV show really did not do justice to these enjoyable novels with very little of the books reflected in the show.
Ann Kelley says
I agree. And though the actress did a very good job, I thought she was totally miscast as
Vic. Glad I saw the show first and then read the books, or I would have gotten mad all over again every time ‘Vic’ was on screen!
Debbie Tsosie says
Longmire show, crew, and Directors/Writers always had the utmost respect and concern for each of the Native American actors, actresses, consultants, and extras/backgrounds on the set. Always a great time working on the set with The Longmire Family!
Christina says
I would be very interested in learning more about the discussions. I adore the fact that Longmire programming used the media to address the long-standing and long-term issues that are faced by the Native Americans and that the relations between the Americas and the Native Americans still has not been resolved
Paul Ogea Jr says
Sadly, the series Longmire has ended on Netflix. Hopefully, someone will decide to make some big screen movies with these characters. Great actors can only do so much with the script they are given. In this case not only did they have great actors they also had great scripts. For those that have not seen it you don’t know what you are missing.
Marcia Harrity says
I agree with all the above. Longmire is the best written drama EVER and the actors are the best!! Ended way too soon. Can’t another channel pick it up????
James Sullivan says
What I would really like to see is a miniseries about what has happened to Native Americans in this country. Using a format similar to Roots , track an Indian family from the early 1800’s to the present. Break it into four major segments : 1) invasion ; 2) genocide ; 3) forced assimilation ; 4) present situation. I believe that the time is right for such a production. With the success of Longmire , Godless , Blackstone and the release of movies starring more Indian actors , I am confident that people would definitely want to see this idea on the screen.
